News and Qitsibi

Hi there, friends !

So the KHL 2013-14 season is officially over, Magnitogorsk has officially won its first KHL title !
To be fair, the team has been regularly strong all season long and most of us saw it coming, but we might have not seen a final against Prague coming...

Anyway, back to our petrochemists, I thought I'd start with compiling the news that has been published the past few weeks, mostly about players contracts, but not only !

So, first thing, local hero Maksim Berezin and Nikita Lisov have extended their contract with Neftekhimik for two more years, which in itself is an awesome news...
Maksim Rybin on his side signed a one year extention with the club...

Bogdan Yakimov, the young talented  Nizhnekamsk-born player has been confirmed leaving the team to go to NHL, in which he'll play for the Edmonton Oilers...
This will be very interesting to see him following the footsteps of  local fame Nail Yakupov !

In a very interesting interview, Rafik Yakubov, who's none other than Neftekhimik GM, has confirmed that Dan Sexton will stay with the team for the next 2 seasons, that the management is trying to get a clause in Bogdan Yakimov's contract to make sure we will come be to Nizhnekamsk if the NHL adventure would falls short.
He also confirmed that Yegor Milovzorov and Nikolai Belov, landed to AkBars, will return to Niznekasmk next season...

Finally, and probably most importantly, Yakubov confirmed that Kari Heikkila is now the head coach of the team... More details to come, I'm sure, but it seems the teams is on a good path...

Last but not the least, as far as I'm concerned, is that the team has announced that they will attempt a two-weeks high altitude training in July in Switzerland.. Since this is where I live, you can imagine this is actually good news !

Allright folks, that's all for now ! Enjoy Spring and see you in July !!
